A Cool Summer Camp Hale Wedding
I have seen hundreds of wedding ceremonies in my time as a wedding vendor and every one of them still makes me emotional! This one will be ingrained in my mind for a long time to come, though. The weather was gorgeous, the people were sweet, the personal officiating was perfection and leave it to Trent and Stacy Gillespie to capture the sunshine beaming over the mountains just before it went down over Camp Hale. And if you have been here right before sunset, you know that there is the perfect window of time to enjoy the sun on the gorgeous ceremony island. But that's not where the day began!
Alex and Andrew are local to Chicago but also have a long history in Colorado, having met at DU! They were engaged while skiing and had to have their wedding in the Vail area, being one of their favorite places to visit. Alex spent the morning at the Minturn home of a friend while Andrew relaxed at Grand Hyatt Vail with his buddies.
Some of you may know that while we specialize in custom florals and decor for all events, I (Laura) have a background in planning events but am now retired :), so when Alex and Andrew were referred by a former colleague I wanted to be a part of it. One of my favorite parts of wedding planning is getting to spend many months getting to know wonderful families during such a fun time and these two families did not disappoint. Their closeness in these photos is heartwarming!
Alex is low key and a natural beauty and her wedding day style reflected that with natural makeup, a cool ponytail and sleek gown, which she paired with boots and a leather jacket.
First look photos on top of the pass near Camp Hale is a must when you get married there! You cannot beat these views and their day was crystal clear!
I LOVED the look of this group. Sleek and stylish navy suits paired with personally chosen, white gowns and jumpsuits were perfection for their fashion forward styles. The bride's sister and matron of honor was super chic in navy, as well. We used late summer blooms, many local to Colorado, with crisp whites and lush greenery to coordinate perfectly!
Camp Hale's natural setting doesn't require much in the way of decor! A birchwood structure framed the altar with flowy greenery and matching white florals to soften it.
Once the ceremony ended, the sun went down and the chill that happens on top of a mountain, in mid September, set in! Luckily the mother of the groom had hand tied cozy blankets for guests and they did not go unused! More personal touches included a custom made wood, etched escort card board from the father of the bride and beautiful watercolor stationary by Alex's friend, The Clementine Studio.
The band, Tunisia, provided music from start to finish and brought down the house! They had a packed dance floor all night and guests who travelled from all over the country had a blast while they snacked on delicious mini doughnuts for dessert. Their wedding was the perfect blend of elegant, casual, mountainous and fun. Just right for Alex and Andrew!
Alex and Andrew, I hope you had the best first 6 months of marriage and are enjoying that puppy! Sending our love from Colorado!!
